Abstract

A systematic taxonomic treatment of the genus the Syzygium Gaertn. comprising 16 accepted species occurring in the Konkan and the Western Ghats regions of Maharashtra, India is presented. An identification key, updated nomenclature, taxonomic accounts, phenology, distribution, taxonomic notes and photographs are provided for of all collected species. Syzygium toddalioides (Wight) Walp. and cultivated species S. myrtifolium Walp. are reported first time from Maharashtra.
