Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria(Pgpr) for improving the yield of plants
Abstract
Rhizobacteria that promote plant growth (PGPR) are naturally occurring soil bacteria. They colonizes with plant root system and maintain positive interaction with plant environment. They benefited plants in many aspect as they enhance plant growth through their PGP trait by producing several growth regulators and providing systemic resistance to plants against broad spectrum plant pathogens. The ability of PGPR to increase productivity, sustainability and profitability of agriculture system and food security of growing population are top priorities has drawn particular attention. The potential PGPR replace the usage of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other supplements. The symbiotic relationships between PGPR and host plants explaining how these interactions promote the development and growth of plants. Focus on their capacity to improve plant nutrient uptake efficiency. This review intends to explain the diverse performance of PGPR on soil fertility and nutrient availability, plant growth promotion, crop production and development of sustainable agriculture.
