Abstract
The chemical name of apigenin is 4,5,7-trihydroxyflavone. It is a solid crystalline natural substance that belongs to the flavone class.
Apigenin has been found to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial, anti-genotoxic, anti-allergic, cardioprotective
properties, and neuroprotective properties. Chenopodium album L. (Family Chenopodiaceae) has been extensively utilized in
conventional medical treatments due to its antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-diabetic, and diuretic properties. We used high-performance
thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) to separate phytoconstituents from a powdered leaf methanolic extract of Chenopodium album
L. Apigenin in the sample extract was confirmed by overlaying UV absorption spectra with the standard marker compound apigenin
(4,5,7-trihydroxyflavone) using a CAMAG TLC scanner-4.Further, molecular docking studies have shown that apigenin has good binding
affinity with SARS-CoV-2 target proteins. In conclusion, these research findings will significantly contribute to solving the worldwide
pandemic crisis of SARS-CoV-2.
