Checklist of resupinate, non-poroid and poroid Agaricomycetous fungi from District Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)
Abstract
Mandi, known as “Choti Kashi” or the “Varanasi of the Hills,” is a geographically diverse district in Himachal Pradesh, India, characterized by a wide range of altitudes and climate, from subtropical to subalpine (Mehra et al., 1971). These unique geographical features provide an ideal environment for a rich and diverse fungal flora. The present study aims to document the diversity of resupinate, non-poroid, and poroid agaricomycetous fungi in Mandi. A total of 92 taxa were recorded, belonging to 47 genera, 19 families, and 10 orders. This comprehensive checklist is the first of its kind for the region and highlights the significant fungal diversity of the area. The study contributes essential baseline data that will be valuable for ecological studies, conservation strategies, and further taxonomic research in this underexplored region.
